You’re probably left with a hammered bank account, a bulging waistline and rubbish weather conditions. Things aren’t looking any better as today is the mother of all unhappy Monday’s. The third Monday in January, known as Blue Monday, has been scientifically calculated as the most depressing of the year. “Brilliant just what I need”, we hear you say but fear not, in a bid to cheer you up on this gloomy day we have rounded up the top 10 things to do in the city to banish those Monday blues.
1. La La Land
Break out in song and dance and head to the cinema to watch the latest must-see film La La Land. What better way to cheer yourself up than watching the gorgeous Ryan Gosling and equally stunning Emma Stone show off their talents. The musical took the Golden Globes by storm and is the perfect uplifting film to brighten up this depressing day.

Eat yourself happy and treat yourself to lunch or tea out. Your New Year’s resolution might have been to eat healthy this year but let’s be honest that’s probably already failed anyway, so what’s the harm? If you want our advice on where to grab a bite to eat in the city, we’re big fans of Yorks Cafe & Roastery on Stephenson Street. The quirky coffee shop was recently listed in The Guardian’s The 50 Best Breakfast Places in the UK alongside The Plough Harborne and Kitchen Garden Cafe.
